Empress Stah has produced a variety of shows, which have enjoyed sell out runs in London and successful tours as far afield as Australia. Empress Stah headlines all of her own productions as well as employing other luminaries of the London cabaret scene. Stah handles all aspects of the production from booking the venue, setting up ticket sales, contracting the artists, designing and distributing the flyers, contacting the press, employing directors and technical staff, organizing rehearsal and travel schedules, curating the running order and controlling the budget and paying the invoices. She has produced with and without funding, often taking a gamble on box office sales on the back of interest free credit cards. Stah attributes her producing savvy to an incomplete Economics Degre

Stah Lite

Empress Stah in Space: Stah-Lite, is Empress Stah’s first show to be funded by The Arts Council of England and supported by The Roundhouse and The Circus Space, London. Stah has just now completed a Research and Development phase and will be moving on to producing the show early in 2011. Angela De Castro, Di Sherlock, Natasha Davis, Designs in Air, John Maddox and David Greeves are all involved in the project as well as costumiers Nicholas Immaculate, Rachael Freire and Lyall Hakarai.

This new work represents a departure from my signature style of cabaret and is being developed for a black box theatre.

This part of the project has been dedicated to:

Developing the themes of Space – Outer and Inner.

Exploring the relationship between aerial choreography and illuminated, inflatable objects that define the space in which the performance takes place.

Researching movement in microgravity aboard parabolic flights.

Building a creative team that includes Natasha Davis, Angela De Castro, Di Sherlock, Designs in Air, John Maddox and Manuel Vason.

Creating embryos of narrative, devising a style of text and touching on the clown state.Working in a controlled environment with high production values.

In the next stage of production I am keen to further explore these relationships as well as investigate the ideas of human d/evolution, our the impact of our technologically enhanced lifestyles and induced states of transcendence, presented with comedy and tragedy.
