Empress Stah is on a Pilgrimage to the Stars !!!
And what is she going to do when she gets there ?
Put on a show of course !!
This pilgrimage has been progessing ever since she can remember and for the past 5 years Stah has been consciously and deliberately taking steps to make it a reality. The final destination is a long, long way from home and so the journey must be broken down into smaller, more navigable steps. This effort has culminated in an actual Zero Gravity experience, Arts Council of England Funding and a commission from the Spill Festival of Live Art, for a solo show in November 2012, placing Empress Stah at the forefront of artists currently working at the intersection of 'Arts, Culture and Humanities in Space Exploration'.

EMPRESS STAH FLOATING IN ZERO GRAVITY |

In May 2011 Empress Stah travelled to San Francisco USA and enjoyed her first experience of weightlessness aboard a parabolic flight !!
This type of flight is the same technique the space agenices use to train astronauts and test equipment that is headed for outer space.
It was not exactly the over arching grace of Deep Space, more like crashing around inside a Tin Can, but it is a start !!!

WISH UPON A STAR - HOLOGRAM PERFORMANCE |

Empress Stah is entering the world of digital art and her first offering 'Wish Upon A Star' premiered at the Kinetica Artfair, London 2012.
'Wish Upon A Star' is an interactive performance involving a Hologram of Empress Stah performing Aerial Hoop with 4 Star Backing Dancers made using 3D animation.
This performance is a collaboration with VJ Nemo, who created the animations.
The Hologram comes in after about 1min.

THE CROWD FUNDING CAMPAIGN SUCCESS |

To raise the funds needed to pay for Empress Stah's first parabolic flight, she initiated a Crowd Funding campaign on a website called ULULE !! The campaign raised £3500 in 3.5 weeks, it was generously supported by Friends, Family and Fans.
Empress Stah employed a few Gorilla Marketing tactics to gain attention and spread the word via Social Networking. These tactics included actually being tattooed and threatening to fire herself out of a canon !!
On top of this Stah her her PA Shae Vulgaris completed two short video's starring 'The Stah Ship Trooper' on the streets of Bricklane, London and The Red Light District, Amsterdam.

The Launch Project is an all encompassing multi-media venture behind the first live musical performance from the edge of space. Thanks to the imminent arrival of space tourism, a new world of off-world entertainment is upon us. ‘The Launch Project’ provides the first musical performance by an artist in this unique weightless environment.
Empress Stah been bought onto this project, by it's creator Joshua Oliver, as head of 'Choreography and Performance Behaviour'.

PRAXIS MOHAVE - THE LANGUAGE OF M.I.P |

Praxis Mohave was a 10 day Performance Art Boot Camp led by Ron Athey and Julie Tolentino at Desert Hot Springs, Mohave Desert USA in 2008. On a day trip to the 'Integratron' in Joshua Tree National Park I spontaneously conceived and performed 'The language of M.I.P'. The idea being that I was 'not from round these parts' .... and needed to teach the people I encountered my language in order to communicate.

Kosmica is a free event curated by The Arts Catalyst in London and describes itself as bringing together the cosmically curious and culturally quirky space community for a social mix of art-space programmes - a film screening, performance or live concert with a short presentation, talk and debate about the alternative and cultural uses of space.
Empress Stah made a power point presentation about her recent Zero Gravity experience, with Pictures and Video, the thinking behind the project and the thoughts about where it might all be headed.
Empress Stah says "I was a little nervous at first, you know, standing on ground, fully dressed, speaking !! "

In 2010 Empress Stah was the recipient of a Research and Development grant from the Arts Council of England for her ongoing performance project 'Stah-Lite in Space'

In 2009 Empress Stah was commissioned by the SPILL FESTIVAL in England to create 'The Star' tarot card as a part of their collaborative project with acclaimed live art photographer Manuel Vason for the SPILL performance tarot.
